Anies Opens Chili and Garlic Market Operation in 22 Markets

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan opened the Market Operation for red chili, cayenne and garlic at the Ragunan Center Indonesian Farmers Store, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, on Sunday (2/9) morning.

Jakarta has a food supply dependency on areas outside of Jakarta

On that occasion, as many as 22 vehicles that carry approximately 500 kg of garlic and 250 kg of chili will be distributed to 22 markets in Jakarta at an affordable price. They are namely garlic for Rp 30,000 per kg and red cayenne for Rp 35,000 per kg.

According to him, it was done in order to meet the needs of the community, reduce the inflation rate, control price increases and ensure the three stocks of kitchen spices are in sufficient quantities.

KPKP Agency Increases Chili Supply from Wajo

"Jakarta has a food supply dependency on areas outside of Jakarta. Moreover, prices in Jakarta have national implications. When prices increase, a country would bring additional supplies to stabilize prices. So the interventions that we do here are part of price stabilization. InsyaAllah, the price can be stable," he explained, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

Those 22 markets are Tomang Barat, Kramat Jati, Tanah Abang, Jatinegara, Kebayoran Lama, Klender SS, Senen, Anyer Bahari, Glodok, Johar Baru, Tebet Barat, Pondok Labu, Koja Baru, Gondangdia, Mampang Prapatan, Petojo Ilir, Kelapa Gading, Cijantung, Pulogadung, Pal Merah, Metro Atom and Minggu.

The governor expressed his appreciation to the Agriculture Ministry's Food Sovereignty Agency for their cooperation has synergized with PT. Tjipinang Jaya Tbk Food Station in implementing the market operation in 22 markets. To reach all markets, hopefully the ministry and PT. Tjipinang Jaya Tbk Food Station could coordinate and collaborate intensively with Perumda Pasar Jaya.

He hoped that it could reach all markets in Jakarta and right on target to stabilize high prices, especially for low-income people and MSME culinary entrepreneurs.

"So the ultimate goal is not just a stable market price, but families in Jakarta feel calm and well-being, as their basic needs are predictable and stable prices. Our hope is the entire region in Jakarta has a stable supply of basic needs, the price is stable, the family is happy," he expressed.

If the price were still high and unstable, the system would be extended. "The Pasar Jaya is expected to continue to do with Food Station routinely in 88 markets. Thank you for those of you who carry out noble duties on behalf of the state, come in the markets to reduce prices," he exclaimed.

Aside that, the Agriculture Ministry's Food Sovereignty Agency Head, Agung Hendriadi uttered the market operation carried out today are mainly to control the price of onions and chilies, especially cayenne which recently increased in price. "That's why, along with Food Station, we secure supplies and prices. One day, 20 tons are sent to the market at a price of 30,000. This is far below the current price," he said.

"We take cayenne from Wajo, South Kalimantan and West Sumatera. The price is almost Rp 100,000. But, after three days, it increased to 70,000-80,000 in retail. Surely we can't work alone, in addition to working with food stations, we are also in cooperation with Pasar Jaya. Alhamdulillah its price keeps decreasing," he added.

In this activity, there were also Agriculture Ministry's Food Security Agency Head, Inti Pertiwi; Bank Indonesia Deputy Head, Harum Setiawati; Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Agency Head, Djarjamuni; PT Food Station President Director, Arif Prasetio; Perumda Pasar Jaya President Director, Arif Nasrudin; DPD Member, Fahira Idris; Jakarta KADIN Chairwoman, Diana Dewi; and officials under Jakarta Provincial Government.
